Editorial Standards
Money content is easy to fake and hard to trust. These are the rules Solid Ground Reserve holds itself to, published so you can hold us to them.
Where the facts come from
Rules, thresholds, deadlines and account mechanics are taken from primary sources: the IRS, the Social Security Administration, the Department of Labor, FDIC, SIPC, FINRA, the Census Bureau, and plan or custodian documentation. When a rule is cited, the source is named in the article.
We do not cite other blogs as authority for a rule. If a number appears on this site, it came from the body that sets it.
Why the stories are there
Every article opens with a woman in a specific moment. Those women are composites, drawn from common situations, not from real clients, and never from anyone’s private information. No reader’s story appears on this site.
The story is there because the emotional situation is the actual context for the financial question. Skipping it produces a checklist that is technically correct and useless to the person holding it.
What we will not do
- We do not give personal advice. Nothing here is individualized legal, tax, investment or financial-planning advice, and nothing here accounts for your specific situation.
- We do not use fear. No collapse imagery, no countdowns, no manufactured urgency.
- We do not recommend products. We explain how categories work, including their costs and their drawbacks.
- We do not pretend certainty. Where a rule depends on your circumstances, and most do, we say so and name who can verify it for you.
- We do not write about precious metals where they are not relevant. They appear when the complete financial picture creates a reason, and not otherwise.
How we handle the conflict of interest
Solid Ground Reserve may be compensated by a precious metals dealer if a reader requests an introduction and goes on to do business with them. This is disclosed on our Why We Exist page and in the disclosure on every article that touches metals.
We are not employed by any dealer. No dealer reviews, approves, edits or pays for the content on this site. Editorial decisions are made independently of that relationship.
Corrections and updates
Every article shows its published date and its last updated date.
Articles are reviewed when a cited rule changes, when a reader reports a problem, and on a rolling schedule regardless. Substantive corrections are made in the article itself rather than quietly removed.
If you find something wrong here, please tell me: hello@solidgroundreserve.com. Corrections from readers are the fastest way this gets better, and I would rather be corrected than trusted by accident.
Who is responsible
All content on this site is written and edited by the founder of Solid Ground Reserve. See Why We Exist for her background and for what she is and is not qualified to do.
